WARNING WEST RIVER MODIFIED UNION EDUCATION DISTRICT 2021 ANNUAL MEETING The legal voters of the West River Modified Union Education District (the "District"), comprising the voters of the towns of Brookline, Jamaica, Newfane, Townshend and Windham for prekindergarten through Grade 12 are hereby warned and notified that due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Board of School Directors has determined, pursuant to the provisions of Act 162, that all articles of business (Articles 1-11) for the 2021 Annual Meeting will be voted by Australian ballot on Wednesday, March 24, 2021, at their respective polling places on Wednesday, March 24, 2021 at 9:00 a.m., at which time the polls will open, and 7:00 p.m., at which time the polls will close, to vote by Australian ballot on following articles of business: Article 1: To elect a Moderator. Article 2: To elect a Clerk. Article 3: To elect a Treasurer. Article 4: Shall the voters of the District authorize the Board of School Directors to borrow money by issuance of bonds or notes not in excess of anticipated revenues for the next fiscal year? Article 5: Shall the voters of the District approve compensation to the current Officers for their services during Fiscal Year 2022 in the following amounts? Moderator: $250 Clerk: $2,000 Treasurer: $2,000 Article 6: Shall the voters of the District approve compensation to the School Directors for their service during Fiscal Year 2022 at $1000 Directors, $1,200 Chair? Article 7: Shall the voters of the District set the date of 2022 Annual Meeting as the fourth Tuesday of March? Article 8: Shall the voters of West River Modified Union Education District #U072A approve the school board to expend $ 12,115,000_for grades PreK-12 which is the amount the school board has determined to be necessary for the ensuing fiscal year? It is estimated that this proposed budget, if approved, will result in education spending of $22,844_per equalized pupil. This projected spending per equalized pupil is 1.723% higher than spending for the current year. Article 9: To elect one (1) "at-large" school director who is a resident of the District for a three-year term. Article 10: Shall the voters of the West River Modified Union School District authorize moving the operational surplus, if any, from Fiscal Year 2021 to the Reserve Fund? Article 11: Shall $150,000.00 of unexpended proceeds of the bond authorized at the March 27, 2019 annual meeting be applied to the cost of upgrading the existing water system at Leland and Gray Middle/High School?" The legal voters of the West River Modified Union Education District are further notified that voter qualification, registration, and absentee voting relative to said annual meeting shall be provided in Chapters 43, 51, and 55 of Title 17, Vermont Statutes Annotated.
